Curatorial Work

Throughout my internship, I have been surrounded by curatorial expeditions. At Kennedy Heights Arts Center, I have worked alongside the Director of Exhibitions and Public Art, Mallory Feltz. Creating environments where the work can live and breathe. Working with the artists and communicating with them about the process and design. I have found a love for this work, as I aspire to support artists and their work. Curating allows me to engage with the community of artists and share my passions. I have gained a good eye for placing artworks as well as many skills relating to the actual installation. Understanding the physical weight of the work and how to install it properly. At my internship with Kennedy Heights Arts Center, I had the opportunity to curate a show myself. Called Local Talent, a show that is put on yearly. I also assisted in curation with multiple projects including: Mother Earth: Let the Spirit Move, Change, Independent Bookstores and The Art of Reading: Paintings and Drawings by Lynn Niehaus.

I also explored curation through my second internship with the Oesper Collection at the University of Cincinnati. I was hired to be a research and design intern for the displays installations in the new Chemistry Building. I worked on this project for nine months. I learned processes of research, conservation, handling of artifacts, and understanding the display cases to ensure the objects thrive.
